CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Chongqing experienced a process of heavy rainfall and river flooding. The water level of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Jialing River have experienced a sharp rise this year. The more it rains and the water rises, the more the hydrologists go outside the house. The “abnormal” choice they made again and again in the rainstorm and flood is to obtain accurate water data, to provide basis for flood control and to ensure the safety of the city behind. They are "sentinels" keeping watch of the flood.

At 19:00 on July 4th, the measured water level of the Yangtze River Cuntan Hydrological Station was 178.45 meters, the measured flow was 44,500 cubic meters per second. The water level which approached the warning water level of 180.5 meters was rising.

Since July 2, Chongqing has experienced a process of heavy rainfall and flood peak. In most districts and counties, heavy rains and even storms have occurred. Some small and medium-sized river stations have seen exceeding warning water level flood. In addition to the influence of upstream precipitation, water level of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Jialing River has experienced the largest increase this year.
