2018-07-26 10:05:02

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- How do we build Chongqing’s smart transportation? What new experiences will be brought to the public? At the end of this year, all buses in Chongqing main urban area are expected to receive fares via QR code, and some pilot CRT stations will check in via face-recognition.

Check in via face recognition at some pilot CRT stations

There are more than 8,700 ground buses in the main urban areas of Chongqing, operating more than 600 lines. According to the person in charge, at the end of the year, the bus system in the main urban areas is expected to realize basic coverage of mobile payment. By that time, passengers can pay fares by scanning QR codes with Alipay, WeChat, UnionPay on their mobile phone.

In addition to buses, citizens will also have more “intelligent” experience when taking Chongqing Rail Transit. By the end of the year, people may buy tickets with voice and face recognition at some stations. In terms of the voice method, passengers need to tell related machines which station they are headed to and the system will automatically calculate the fare that the passenger can then pay. For the face recognition method, related devices will be added to CRT gates which will make facial recognition possible.

At the same time, an upgrade to the CRT gates will be launched. In the future, citizens can scan a QR code displayed on station gates with their mobile phone when traveling by CRT, leisurely getting in and out of a station, without taking pains in buying tickets.

E-stop board displaying bus information

At the bus station of the Nanping Convention & Exhibition Center, a blue-and-white electronic bus stop board is particularly eye-catching. Passengers can see all the bus lines that pass through the station, the terminal stations of each line, and how many stations for each bus to arrive at the station.

Since February this year, Chongqing has completed the installation and debugging of 17 physical electronic stop boards in the district of Jiangbei, Yuzhong and Nan'an.

Drowsy driving is alerted via facial recognition

In summer, many drivers are susceptible to drowsiness while driving. How do we prevent bus drivers from drowsy driving? In terms of smart transportation, the city's bus lines have been gradually implementing an intelligent early warning (AI) system.

The system monitors the driver's driving behavior in real time through a camera that implements face recognition technology. A voice prompt will be issued in time for bus drivers when unsafe driving behaviors such as drowsy driving emerge. At present, the trial implementation has begun on buses lines 502, 515, 560 and others. (Translated by Yang Lifu, Fathom Language Limited)
