At 9:40 on August 8, outside the Lawson convenient store at MIXC in Jiangbei District, 3 volunteers from Taoranju were moving the “Water Station” ice chest up a trolley and into a van dozens of meters away.

“Is the offer finished?”, “Where else is free mineral water offered?” Several delivery workers who just took several bottles of mineral water asked, seeing people relocating the ice chest.

Nevertheless, in 20 minutes, an ice chest labeled “Free Water” is back at the front door of the Tongchuan International Lawson convenient store at 9st Street, Jiangbei.

It turns out that Water Stations in Jiangbei and Shapingba Districts are actually relocated, and has relocated to 9st Street in Jiangbei and Shapingba Center Street respectively. What a beautiful scene it is!

Soon the installation of the ice chest at Jiangbei 9st Street’s Water Station was finished, and 4 volunteers wearing blue vests brought a sizable watermelon and heatstroke medicine.

The four people are volunteers from the southwest subsidiary of China Construction Second Engineering Bureau Co, LTD. “We knew the Water Station from a newspaper recently and took action immediately.” Tan Mingyan said while preparing a watermelon. Soon, he and his follow co-workers took the watermelon which is placed in 2 plates evenly and put them in the ice chest.

“What is this? Why is the ice chest full of bottled water and watermelon pieces?” A senior sanitarian worker murmured while walking up to the Water Station.

“Sir, this is a Water Station, offering mineral water to workers like you for free.” The man let go of his broom and dustpan and took a bottle of water and a piece of watermelon from the ice chest.

“I am 65 now and started doing sanitarian work at 9st Street since a year before, and no free mineral water was offered until now.” When done with his piece of watermelon, he refused the volunteer’s offer of another and said: “One piece is enough, please leave the rest for the others”

Several minutes later, the man began to work, leaving with his tools and the bottled water in his pocket, probably to save it for later. “Thanks, I’ll drink it when I am thirsty.” The man said merrily.

A total of 48 bottled mineral water were given away at the Water Station oft 9st Street Station in Jiangbei on August 8.

“Mom, I want to buy 2 bottles of water and put it in the ice chest.” At 12:00 on August 8, a 10-year little girl said to her mom Ms. Luo when they walked pass the Water Station on Shapingba Center Street.

“Here is the money; just go.” Ms. Luo gave her daughter change and the gilr bought 2 bottles of mineral water and placed them in the ice chest. Then they left here.

An ice chest for kind-hearted citizens

Hu Yunbo, a volunteer at Water Station said that great love can never be felt if no one gives their share. During the time, Hu Yunbo invited Tang Daomei, a sanitarian worker who just finished her work, to have some water.

Tang Daomei and her fellow co-workers thanked Hu Yunbo after having the mineral water.

“The free offer is of good cause – sanitarian work is a tiring job; more care should be given to the cleaners.” Seeing this, Ms. Zhang who passed through the Water Station, stopped by it and spoke highly of it with her thumb.
