People gather around, but Luo never thinks too much about their views and indulges himself in his world of painting.
“Is this painting of yours for sale? How much if it is?” Whenever people showed interest in buying his paintings, he would say: “It’s up to you.”
Without systematic training in painting, he loves traditional buildings since young
However, the traditional wooden building “Xiangjiang paifang” which he is currently working on is only a one-time encounter to him. Growing up in the mountains of Guizhou, he didn’t learn painting systematically, and the reason he possesses such painting skills is he often watched as his carpenter father and grand-father built houses when he was young.
“The wooden buildings are a traditional Chinese style. Although it can not to be compared with modern concrete ones, it is worth remembering since it has several hundreds of years of history. The number of such architecture has been declining, even in the mountains of Guizhou, so I am trying to preserve them in my painting.”
Next, Luo Yunbo still plans to stay in Chongqing. While supporting him as a porter, he plans to keep painting all along. (Translated by Yang Lifu, Fathom Language Limited)
