CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 6, the reporter learned from the construction and development center of Nanbin Road that “Chongqing Family · Xiahaoli", the historical and cultural district of Longmenhao, will be formally opened in the near future and reproduce a picture of life that reflects the traditional culture of the city.

Chongqing became a port city in 1891. As the largest gathering place for foreign investors in Chongqing in the old days, Longmenhao was the first place to be exposed to western culture and had the most western-style buildings in Chongqing. The buildings of foreign firms, hospitals, and villas are centered in the Xiahao area, which show the traditional wooden architecture of the mountain city and form a charming scenery on the river bank.

The reporter saw in “Chongqing Family · Xiahaoli" a mixture of Chinese architectural elements (such as the roof of the heavy summit of hill, the roof of the hang summit of hill, and the roof of the accumulating top) and western-style dormer-windows, Greek columns, courtyards... They stand in the smoke curling up from ordinary households, presenting a unique flavor of Chongqing. Today, this well-preserved architectural complex is hidden in the depths of Xiahao; the streams, courts, foreign firms, word carvings, etc. are all calmly telling the profound culture and history of the city.

Different from the common old streets, “Chongqing Family · Xiahaoli" will faithfully presents the buildings featuring the combination of Chinese and Western culture, such as the French Yongxing Foreign Company, the site of the former Wuchang Zhonghua University, the Belgian Consulate, the Wen’s Courtyard, etc. Besides, with its integration with art, culture, and new consumer brands that are located beside river, among the forest or in front of the cultural preservation buildings, “Chongqing Family · Xiahaoli" allows tourists to immerse themselves in the profound cultural heritage of the city.

It is learned that “Chongqing Family · Xiahaoli" was once the most bustling Xiahao old street appealing to lots of tourists, where there were always a continuous stream of merchants, fun and steamy scenes, and burning incense continuously curling upwards in Juelin Temple. With the rapid development of the times and the prosperous economy, Xiahao and even the whole Longmenhao have gradually lived outside of public view, but the tranquil Xiahao reproduces the real life of the ordinary Chongqing family.
