The Universities Town of Shapingba District, Chongqing

    Located in the west of Chongqing, Shapingba District, gathering international and domestic talent flow, logistics, information flow, is an essential part in Chengdu-Chongqing economic and political cooperation. Besides, this district is an important passage linking the city’s western areas with the main urban districts, northeastern areas and southeastern areas of Chongqing.

    With the stable and rapid development of Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bond Port, Xiyong Micro-electronics Industrial Park, West China Modern Logistics Industrial Park, Chongqing Central Station of China’s Container Rail Network, Chongqing West Railway Station, Shapingba Railway Station, etc., Shapingba District has become the origin of the New Silk Road -- Yuxin’ou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) International Railway, an important strategic platform for Chongqing’s opening-up and bridgehead of “Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone.”

    A comprehensive transportation network including railway, waterway, expressway, high-speed road, national and provincial highway, rail transit, etc., has taken shape in Shapingba.

    Shapingba's highways cover a total length of over 1,300 kilometers. A total of five expressways such as Chengdu-Chongqing, Chongqing-Suining, Chongqing-Beibei, Shangqiao-Jieshi expressways and the double line of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, and eight national and provincial highways including National Highway 319, National Highway 212, National Highway 210, Provincial Highway 107, etc. boost the economic and social development of Shapingba.

    By 2015, this district will form a "5+5+5" (5 expressways, 5 tunnels and 5 bridges) highway network and complete a urban high-speed road network.

    A total of seven railroad freight and passenger stations such as Chongqing Central Station of China's Container Rail Network, Xinglongchang Marshalling Station, the largest one of its kind in Southwest China, Chongqing West Railway Station, Shapingba Comprehensive Railway Transportation Hub, etc. have settled in the district. Among which, Chongqing West Railway Station, Shapingba Comprehensive Railway Transportation Hub are expected to be completed and put into service in 2020 and 2015, respectively.

    Shapingba District boasts a 19.3-kilometer-long water channel in the Chongqing section of the Jialing River.

    In terms of rail transit, line 1 has been put into service in Shapingba District. Besides, the loop line is under smooth construction in the district. The total operation mileage of rail transit in Shapingba will reach 28 kilometers. Meanwhile, the inner-city railway network is 71 kilometers in length.

    Travel time from Shapingba to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is no more than 30 minutes. A total of five transfer hubs will be built in the district.

    After the completion of Shapingba Railway Station and Chongqing West Railway Station, railway lines linking Shapingba of Chongqing and some domestic cities and provinces such as Chengdu, Kunming, Guiyang, Guangdong, Hubei, etc. will be put into service, forming a comprehensive transportation network.

    It will take less than 30 minutes from Shapingba District to any other main urban district of Chongqing.
