Yuxin'ou essential for Chongqing's open-up

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Le Yucheng, Chinese Ambassador in Kazakhstan, gave suggestions and advice on how Chongqing could speed up its open-up via Yuxin'ou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) International Railway during an exclusive interview on August 15, 2013.

According to Le, the open-up in China's inland areas lags far behind that of the eastern coastal areas.

However, with the operation of Yuxin'ou Railway, also known as the Third Eurasian Continental Bridge, the country's western regions are experiencing big opportunities.

Chongqing has made great achievements in its open-up since it was approved to be China's fourth centrally administrated municipality following Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin in 1997. Statistics showed that the city's foreign trade growth in 2012 was 76 percentage points higher than the national average.

Yuxin'ou Railway, a big achievement of Chongqing's reform and innovation, has greatly benefited the city's foreign trade.

"I think that there should be more exchange activities such as promotion conferences, cultural weeks, exhibitions, etc. between Chongqing and Kazakhstan in the future," said Le.
