CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Searching for Shangri-La”, an original ballet of The Chongqing Ballet Troup, will be put on stage at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on November 5th, 2013.

It is the only work selected by the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the only work which combines ballet and folk dance, and its performers will be the youngest among the participating ballet troupes at the international arts festival.

The ballet’s inspiration derives from the novel – Lost Horizon, published by the British novelist Hilton in 1930s. It tells the story of a young painter Dan Qing, who has enjoyed the worldly bustle and endured the pressure of the realistic life, but is determined to seek the spiritual highland symbolizing the tranquility and peace – Shangri-La.
