CHONGQING (CQNEWS) The Chongqing Administration for Development and Guidance of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises stated on Tuesday that Chongqing small and medium-sized enterprises had amounted to 440,000 by the start of June, increasing by 42,000 compared with that at the end of last year. The amount is expected to reach 700,000 by 2017.

It is reported that small and medium-sized enterprises produced an added value of 237.65 billion yuan, increasing by 11% from the previous year, and accounting for 36.9% of Chongqing's GDP. The total firm-wide number of employees reached 5,901,000, adding 257,000 compared with that at the end of the previous year.

According to the preset objective, the share of the added value achieved by 700,000 small and medium-sized enterprises will rise to 40% of Chongqing by 2017.
