GUIYANG, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and many others injured in a 15 vehicle pileup on Monday afternoon in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The accident happened at around 4 p.m. on the Guizhou-Zunyi section of the Lanzhou-Haikou Expressway. Two people in a sedan died when the vehicle was crushed by a truck, according to rescuers.

The accident has caused severe congestion on the section of the expressway.

An investigation into the cause of the pileup is under way.
