In this refurbishment, the original concrete deck of the bridge was replaced with steel to reduce the dead load and to improve carrying capacity.

In view of the fact that the Jialing River Bridge is a protected architecture of cultural relics in Chongqing, the renovation is carried out by retaining its original form as much as possible, without changing its structural system and appearance. This is also one of the characteristics of this renovation.

The recent rainy weather made the coating work a difficult task in construction. The contractor set up a small blue tent on the bridge to facilitate the workers.
