CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing’s first “ward school” has opened. In addition to reducing the negative psychological effects of illness, this ward school helps these long-term hospitalization “out of school” children return to classes, which undoubtedly brings a ray of hope to their life.

“Let them pick their favorite books. You should be careful to guide them when they move so as to avoid touching the indwelling needle.” On the afternoon of September 3, Jiang Dan, the teacher of the New Sunshine Ward School, reminded volunteers things like that at the Hemopathy Medical Center of AMU. Such a situation made people passing by curious.

Classes has been opened in the ward. On September 2, the first ward school jointly established by Xinqiao Hospital of AMU and Beijing New Sunshine Charity Foundation welcomed 7 students. They are children who have leukemia and are “out of school” due to hospitalization for a long time.

Before classes, volunteers will register at the nurse station for class arrangement. With the accompany of volunteers, these children can have various classes, like traditional culture, astronomy and geography, arts and handcraft. Volunteers and children wore masks because these children have weak immune systems.
