Would old dictionaries make artwork?

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 2013 SFAI Lingering Artists’ First Exhibition was opened to the public at Jiaxiang Anshan Art Museum in Chongqing Tiandi on the afternoon of November 12th. Common daily articles such as soap bubbles, dead branches and old dictionaries are part of the exhibited artworks, making the visit a brand-new visual and emotional experience.

Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SFAI) launched the program of Young Artists Reserve in June 2013. After a series of assessment, 20 lingering young artists were selected from the applicants, the young artists were provided with studios and a creation fund of 1,000 yuan monthly.

NO.23899 is a knockout created by Li Qiang, who graduated from the Oil Painting Faculty of SFAI in 2012. He folded 23,899 stars with the inner sheets of old dictionaries. Beside this work, a number of old dictionaries and articles such as glue and scissor are on display on an old desk.

The free exhibition will last until November 25th, 2013.
