The scene of Cong Langui painting Mona Lisa attracts passers-by near Chongqing University, Chenjiawan, Shapingba District, Chongqing.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Crowded by passers-by in the square near Nankai Secondary School, Shapingba District, a middle-aged man squats on the floor and paints without a break. Soon a handsome horse appeared out of the pavement.

Cong Langui, 52 years old, native of Linyi City, Shandong Province, was deprived of his left leg and can only move his body with both hands. When he was 16, his left leg was amputated due to a bone tumor. He taught himself calligraphy and now performs on the streets. “I’m not an artist, I do this so that I could feed myself, you may call me a beggar who understands a little bit of the arts.”

Six or seven years later, he started painting. In order to save brush and paper, he practiced with coal on the floor. Leaving home at the age of 21, he has been wandering for 31 years and has almost covered the entire country.
