It looks like more night markets are on the horizon in Chongqing as the Department of Commerce announced last Wednesday that a series of grants were awarded in support of the city’s night markets as well as the commercial corridor enhancement.

Zhou Keqin, director of the department, announced a series of grants totalling 141 million yuan to support commercial corridor enhancement in the city, including three grants totaling 68 million yuan to support the night market programme.

"In addition to the night markets, which have a proven track record of generating economic benefits for communities across Chongqing, we are supporting a range of other fairs and festivals that will bring vitality and activity to commercial corridors in different parts of our city,” Zhou said in a statement.
