A cross-border drug gang was arrested by police in Chongqing early this year, according to a press conference held on Wednesday.

Police in Shizhu County said at the conference that they detained 9 suspects with more than 23 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

Two of the suspects are from Burma and both are pregnant. They frequently brought drug traffickers from Yunnan Province to Chongqing and neighbouring regions at the end of last year and the police began to monitor their movements.

In March, the gang transported more than 60,000 crystal meth pills from Yunnan to Chongqing. The police seized them at the scene of the deal, cutting the biggest drug-trafficking channel to the city.
