"Liangping Wooden New Year Paintings" have recently been authorised to use the national trademark with a geographical indication.

The paintings, with a long history in Chinese folk art, are used by local people to celebrate festivals in Liangping County of Chongqing.

The 300-year-old art form was listed among the first group of national abstract cultural heritage in 2006 due to its profound cultural, historical and academic values.

The trademark with a geographical indication is composed of the commodity name and its place of origin, such as the "Shaoxing Yellow Wine" and "Anji White Tea". It is considered an important intellectual property right under the full protection of the law.
