BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhuanet) -- The city of Paris has opened its annual urban beach along the river Seine on Saturday, for tourists and locals to enjoy a bit of the seaside, right in the heart of the city.
Like every year, the beach is complete with palm trees, deck chairs and umbrellas, and spans over three kilometres through Paris.
The beach, called 'Paris Plages' also features activities for children - a big hit for Paris residents who are spending their summer holidays in the city.
Children play in the sand as people lounge, sun-bathe and read
their books; a typical day at the beach, minus a dip in the
water.
But Australian tourists Jill and Vivienne still think it's a novel
idea.
"Paris Plages" is open until mid August. So there's nearly a month left for those who want to catch the fun in the sun.
