Tourism arrivals for Chongqing registered a flat decline in August this year, a report from the city’s department of tourism revealed.

The number of tourism arrivals is only 906,638 this month. In September, tourism arrivals are expected to remain stagnant, or even drop.

“A decline in this period of the year is understandable because there will always be some apprehensions by tourists. The good thing is that all tourism players - local government units and private sectors, are working closely to revive tourism,” an industry insider said.
