Stable freight source boosts Yuxin'ou

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The freight volume of Yuxin'ou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) International Railway accounts for nearly 80 percent (by weight) of the total amount among the country’s railways operating transport to Europe, said Li Nong, an official from the Alataw Pass Customs on August 9.

The North Xinjiang Railway, from Urumqi of Xinjiang to the Alataw Pass, China-Kazakhstan border, was put into operation since 1991, serving outbound freight from Lianyungang of Jiangsu Province and Rizhao of Shandong Province.

However, the freight volume at the Alataw Pass port goes down due to the operation of sixteen more ports in Xinjiang.

Chongqing, Chengdu, Wuhan and Zhengzhou have operated freight trains to European countries via Xinjiang over the last several years, aiming at speeding up the open-up through this international logistics channel.

Among the four cities, Chongqing is the only one that boasts stable freight source, greatly benefiting the normalized operation of Yuxin'ou.
