CHONGQING (CQNEWS) --"The railway is off-the-peg while the creativity concealed in it is brand new. Yuxin’ou means significantly to Chongqing and Southwest China’s development and opening to the outside”, according to Gong Jianwei, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus, being visited by the journalist of Media tour along Yuxin’ou Railway on August 30, 2013.

Since directly under the jurisdiction of the Central Government, Chongqing has experienced rapid development and moved forwards as the central city for Southwest China, said Gong Jianwei. Meanwhile, Belarus, as the bridgehead connecting Russia and Europe, is an important center for cargo transshipment and distribution.

Gong Jianwei wishes that Chongqing could enhance its economic & trade contact and cultural exchange with Belarus by virtue of Yuxin’ou.

In July 2013, President of Belarus paid his seventh visit to China. And Sino-Belarus Industrial Park collaborated by China and Belarus will break earth this December, which is designed with an output value of 50 billion dollars, almost equal to that of the GDP of Belarus.

At present, Belarus’s annual import value from China is around 3 billion dollars while China yearly brings in 1.5 billion dollars worth of commodities from Belarus. In total, China has directly invested over 5 billion dollars worth of infrastructural engineering in Belarus, covering highway, railway, bridge and electric power.

There are 11 provinces and cities in China that have invested in Belarus so far, Chongqing excluded, said Gong Jianwei. According to him, Chongqing boasts superior conditions for economic and trade cooperation with Belarus compared with other provinces and cities, which can be attributed to the opening of Yuxin’ou. He suggests that Chongqing enterprises could invest and build factories in Sino-Belarus Industrial Park where Chongqing’s parts will be transported to Belarus for assembly, and then exported to markets in Russia and Europe. In this way, tariff and logistics costs will be comparatively low. (Translated by Yu Ting, Fathom Language Limited)
