More rail transit lines to come

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Line 4 and 5 of the rail transit are to begin construction before the end of this year, while Line 10 is expected to start construction in 2014, according to The Chongqing Development and Reform Commission on November 19th, 2013.

According to the plan, Line 4 is divided into two stages, the first-stage from Xinpaifang Station to Tangjiatuo East Station and the second-stage from Tangjiatuo East Station to Shichuan Town Station. Construction of the first-stage is to be started this year and completed by 2017, the second-stage to be started in 2016 and finished in 2020.

Line 5, the south-north main line of the city’s rail transit network, with a full length of 47.8 kilometers, has 30 stations, including 20 underground stations and 10 elevated stations. The average station spacing is 1.6 kilometers.

Line 10 combines Nan’an District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District and Yubei District from south to north, which is the main line through Liangjiang New Area’s core area. (Translated by Li Li, Fathom Language Limited)
