Lingering rainy weather has increased Chongqing's vegetable prices in varying degrees, according to information from some farm produce markets throughout the city’s main urban districts on 30 June.
Statistics from a vegetable market in Longhu Nanyuan showed the price of water spinach has risen to 5 yuan per 500 grams from 2.5 yuan per 500 grams half a month ago. Prices of some vegetables, including cucumbers and carrots, have maintained a stable price or even declined compared with the previous month.
"When the continuous rainy days come to an end, vegetable prices in Chongqing will be back to normal," said Yang Zhiping, deputy director of Chongqing Agricultural Information Centre. (CQNEWS) (Translated by Liu Kan)
